Southern Charm for a Modern New York Wedding at W.B. Thompson Mansion
There is so much to say about this wedding. First, Sara and Collin are by far one of the sweetest couple I have had the privilege of knowing. The love they have for each other is so sincere and honest, it was easy to feel like you were left out of the prettiest little world they both created and lived in together. Somehow, you just want to be a part of it, because it seemed just absolutely beautiful. The three of us met one cold crisp November day about a month or so after their engagement. We discussed everything they imaged for their wedding day and I have to say, I knew exactly what they were looking for. Old, Southern charm and pure elegance with a little hint of New York City flavor- the place where they both met and fell in love. After about a month or so of searching for the perfect venue, we found Alder Manor, tucked away in Yonkers amongst the most beautiful scenery you could ever imagine. Sara and Collin fell in love with it immediately and thus began our adventure planning their big day.
When Sara and I began speaking about their big day we discussed the feeling she wanted to evoke in her guests. We concluded with "southern charm in the big city". Both Sara and Collin are transplants from the South and wanted to display their background and upbringing in certain parts of their day, as well as their love affair in the big city. We chose a jewel tone color palette that would pop against the broken yet astonishing charm of the old manor.
After the ceremony guests walked through the garden to the outdoor patio area which was adorned with beautiful string lights and a bowl of rose buds which were made for guests to use as a hair piece. An ode to the bride's experience while studying abroad in Italy and to where they were engaged! Guests nibbled on an exquisite raw bar and toasted with whiskey and lemon drop martinis courtesy of the bride and groom's favorite drinks.
This beautiful hand written seating chart was done by the ever so talented groom! Sara and I thought it was so funny that Collin had such impeccable penmanship. We knew we had to commission him for this task and we couldn't have been happier with the result!
Patina Rentals provided the sexiest lounge area we could have ever asked for. Old world charm and glamour? Yes please. Sara and Collin fit in with their surroundings like a glove.
A very interesting fact; our beautiful bride Sara has a Native American ancestry. As a nod to her background, we added a gold dipped feather to her invitation suite as well as an adornment on each place setting. One of my absolutely favorite details of their entire wedding experience.
I hope you enjoyed reliving Sara and Collin's beautiful jewel toned wedding! They were such a dream to work with and their entire wedding experiences is one that I will take with me for the rest of my life. Pure joy and happiness throughout.
